What's Happening?  News & Events

I've added this page to let my friends and colleagues know what I've been up to and a few of the events that are scheduled down the road.

Recent Happenings

It's been a very interesting, exciting and enlightening past 12 months. I have received several invitations for engagements overseas, and accepted three of them. In April '07, I traveled to the Netherlands, at the invitation of PSO Partners. These PM consultants run an annual PPM Congress and I gave the Keynote Address. I also had a chance to conduct a PPM workshop with the clients of Odysseus, a leading consulting firm, also in Holland. At their workshop we had a very interesting discussion about how to implement PPM in large, multi-SBU type firms. As a result of the discussions, and some followup surveys and research, I developed a model called: the Distributed Portfolio Model.

In December, I was invited back to Europe, by Odysseus, to partner with them at the Gartner Consulting PPM Summit, in Prague. I presented a whitepaper on the Distributed Portfolio Model in addition to networking with several practitioners and software developers.

Several of the software developers were very interested in my insights into PPM and these meetings in Prague have developed into current engagements.

I was also engaged to go to Shanghai and Beijing, in April, to conduct a two-day masterclass (in each city) on Practical Project Management & Portfolio Strategy. I had to postpone the event, but a new seminar has been prepared and is available for presentation.

Among the current engagements was something new for me; a webinar. I have previously produced a video instruction (on Selecting Project Management Software - produced by IBM) and conducted several long-distance classes. This was my first webinar. The topic in March was "Deliver Value for You - And Your Boss: Building a Business Case for PPM" This webinar is still available for viewing on the Serena website. Also available is the May webinar on Demand Management: Selecting the Right Projects and Managing Capacity.

Comming Up

I'm doing a third webinar on October 8th, on: Demand Management, The New Triple Constraint, and Why Spreadsheets are not adequate for PPM. Look for signup information on the Serena website.

I have developed a new seminar on Project Portfolio Management. The first scheduled presentation is on September 19th, in Kiev, Ukraine, in conjuction with the 5th Annual International Project Management Week.
